Church of Our Lady on Hriberca - Sacral Monument

The medieval Church of Our Lady, which is also called the “summer church”, was built on a hill above the square (on HRIBERCA) that overlooks the entire basin and is still seen as a crown above a wide range of square and rural houses at its foothills. The church was built between 1747 and 1754 in the Baroque style. The exterior of the church doesn’t give the full image of its grandeur. Only once you enter the church you get overwhelmed by the fullness of the Baroque architecture. The frescoes and harmony of colours on the walls and arches further emphasise the Baroque appearance of the room. The main altar is big and serves as a nice example of the Baroque style from 1770. Its creator was Janez Jurij Mersi.
