Svetina

The Štore Municipality stretches over 28.1 km2, on a predominantly hilly area along the River Voglajna, on the eastern edge of the Celje Basin. The municipality has approximately 4,144 inhabitants in 12 settlements.

The village of Svetina is located above Štore at 683 m above sea level. Based on the assessment by the Slovenia Tourist Association, it was twice proclaimed the most beautiful mountain village in Slovenia. This is where you can find the pilgrim Church of Our Lady of the Snows. A special feature of the church is that it has been without plaster and uncoloured ever since its beginning. Svetina is connected with the history of the Counts of Celje who had their manor farm here and in it an office for estate management. This is why the church was probably built here for their servants.
