Vrbje Pond

South of Žalec, right along the Savinja River, is an interesting and protected area with the Vrbje Pond as the central part. It stretches over 13 ha and is the largest stagnant water area. Warm water fish species (carps) are bred in the pond. The pond has rich flora and fauna with more than 130 species of birds. An interesting eco study trail called Vrbje runs around the pond. It is 3 km long, marked and passable year-round. Every spring and summer, the Ponirek Information Centre at the pond is open.
Opening times:
Monday to Friday: 15:00 to 18:00
Weekends: 9:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 18:00 
Closed in case of bad weather (rain).
