Chapel of St. Ana

The spa resort chapel was built in 1804 in honour of St. Ana, the protector of the resort. The chapel has a neo-Roman form, with Graz design. It is a one-nave building with a square apse. The altar image of St. Mary with a baby and St. Ana was painted in 1686 by a Styrian Baroque painter Hans Adam Weissenkirchner. The famous architect Jože Plečnik rearranged the altar in 1926. It is interesting to note that the municipal holiday is observed on St. Ana’s Day (26 July), whose saintly image expresses a cosmopolitan attitude towards health.
