Braslovče Square

Braslovče Square is definitely one of the special features of the Lower Savinja Valley.
Braslovče and its parish were officially mentioned in documents for the first time in 1140. It was granted market rights by the Counts of Celje Herman I and Viljem in 1360. Braslovče had ordinary market rights and in addition to being engaged in agricultural activity it also had well developed crafts.
The most famous buildings in Braslovče are the Church of the Assumption of Mary and the Legant Mansion
The exact foundation and purpose of its construction have not been confirmed. Considering the preserved inscription “Saluted guard”, it could be concluded that Legant used to have a guard – military function. For sure, Legant had the role of a market administrative building at least from the second half of the 14th century, since a market judge had his office in it.
