Celje

Celje

Already in the pre-Roman times and particularly during the Roman period, the favourable natural conditions of this area provided good possibilities for life to locals. This was one of the reasons for the development of the first town called Keleia on the eastern part of the lowest part of the Lower Savinja Valley already during the Halstatt and later Celtic period.

Today, Celje has a population of nearly 49,000. Smart development and a fresh impetus have given Celje a reputation as a fast-growing town in the third millennium. The town is pleasant to live in, attractive to see and interesting for investors. Today, the town represents a development, business, economic, trade, cultural, educational, administrative, health, sports and fair centre of the Savinja Region.
