Braslovče received their merchant rights and coat of arms already during the times of the Counts of Celje. These rights along with the municipality`s suitable location helped speed up its development. In the past, the region was thus well known for its craftsmanship and trade. With the implementation of hop cultivation as an intensive agricultural practice, the entire Savinja Valley flourished and progressed. Now, the region is focusing on the development of the tourism, artisanal and service sectors.
The main attraction of Braslovče is the ancient Žovnek Castle, which represents the foundation of the tourist and cultural image of the municipality though it is yet to be fully restored.
